Terms of Service
Effective October 15, 2026
The short version
- Your book is yours. We claim no rights in anything you write.
- You are the author. You decide what goes in the book, and you are responsible for it.
- Our method is ours. Your copy is for you, to write your own books. Please do not share or resell it.
- You pay once. One payment, no subscription to us, and three days to change your mind with one click on your setup page.
- Your copy starts straight away. At the checkout you ask for it at once. In the UK and the EU that ends the usual 14-day right to cancel a digital purchase; our three days still apply.
- It will keep changing. Updates are included, and it comes without guarantees.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Leaders in Action Communications, LLC, Portland, Oregon, United States ("we", "us"), the company that operates GhostWriter & the Muse. You accept them, and our Privacy Policy, by ticking the box to agree at the checkout, or on the setup page when you use a code. We keep a record of when you agreed and to which version. Downloading the plugin or using GhostWriter also means you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not buy or use it.
You must be at least 18 years old to use GhostWriter.
2. What GhostWriter is
GhostWriter & the Muse is a plugin, a writing method, and a set of pages that work inside Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. It guides you through writing a book, fiction or nonfiction, from first idea to finished manuscript: planning, drafting, and revising. For a novel, your ghostwriter also helps you develop characters, their backstories and arcs, and the storylines of the book, and suggests ideas for you to accept, change, or turn down.
GhostWriter is an independent product. We are not part of Anthropic, and Anthropic does not endorse or support it. To use GhostWriter you need your own Claude account and plan, and your use of Claude is covered by your own agreement with Anthropic.
3. Your copy
When you buy GhostWriter, or use a code that gives you a copy, we give you a personal copy: a plugin to download, a private connection link, and a setup link that brings both back whenever you need them. Your copy is for you alone. You may use it to write as many books of your own as you like.
- Keep your private connection link and your setup link private. They work like passwords.
- Use a real email address that you can read, at the checkout or with your code, because that is how your copy is kept for you.
- Tell us if you think someone else is using your copy.
After you get your copy we send you a welcome email that confirms your order and holds your links. Your copy page, which you open from that email or from the Support page, lets you download the plugin and copy your private connection link again whenever you need them. Keep that email: it is also your confirmation of this agreement.
4. Your book is yours
Everything you bring to your book, and the book itself, belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to it. Your book is kept on your own computer and in your own Claude account. It is not sent to us.
You are the author, and you are responsible for your book. That includes making sure it is accurate, that you have the right to tell the stories in it and to name the people in it, and that it does not break the law or anyone else's rights. We do not review your book and could not if we wanted to.
5. Writing with an AI
GhostWriter works through an AI system. AI can be confidently wrong. It can misremember what you said, get a fact wrong, or phrase something in a way you did not intend. The method is built to ask you instead of inventing, and to mark its guesses, but nothing is perfect.
Read everything before you rely on it or publish it. Check the facts, the names, the dates, and the quotations yourself.
The laws on who owns writing made with the help of AI are still being worked out and differ from place to place. We make no promise about how any country's copyright law will treat your book. GhostWriter is a writing tool. It is not legal, publishing, or professional advice, and we do not promise that your book will be published or will sell.
Fiction. When you write a novel, your ghostwriter invents details inside the story you decide on, and suggests characters, backstories, and storylines for you to accept or change. You decide what stays. If a character or event is drawn from a real person, it is up to you to make sure the book does not defame them, invade their privacy, or suggest something untrue about them.
Some of the ghostwriter voices are written in the spirit of well-known writers from history. They are our own characters. They are not those people, they do not quote them, and nobody connected with those writers has endorsed them.
6. What is ours
The GhostWriter method, the ghostwriter voices, the design of the pages, the plugin, this site, and the name and look of GhostWriter & the Muse belong to us. We give you a personal licence to use them to write your own books. The licence is not exclusive, cannot be passed to anyone else, and ends if these terms end.
Please do not:
- share, sell, rent, or give away your copy or your private connection link;
- copy out or publish the method's instructions, or use them to build a competing product;
- try to get into anyone else's copy, or interfere with the service or overload it;
- use GhostWriter to break the law or to harm anyone.
7. Price, payment, and refunds
One payment. GhostWriter is sold for a single payment. The price is shown on the site and at the checkout before you pay. There is no subscription to us and no further charge. Your Claude plan is separate, and you pay Anthropic for it.
Payment. You pay on a checkout page run by Stripe. Stripe, or one of its companies, takes the payment as the seller of record, adds any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, and sends your receipt. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself.
Three days to change your mind. For three days (72 hours) after you buy, you can cancel from your setup page with one click, with no questions asked. Your payment is sent back to the way you paid at once, and how quickly it shows depends on your bank. When a purchase is refunded, its copy is switched off. Your book is not affected: it stays on your computer and it stays yours. If you buy again later, your copy comes back with a fresh three days.
A lower price to keep it. When you go to cancel within the three days, we may offer to let you keep your copy for a lower price instead. If you accept, we send the difference back to your card at once, the copy is yours, and the three days end there.
If you live in the UK, the European Union, the EEA, or Switzerland. The law there usually gives you 14 days to cancel a purchase made online. For digital content like GhostWriter, that right ends once the content is made available to you, if you asked for it to start straight away and accepted that you would lose the right. At the checkout you tick the box to agree to these terms, and by doing so you ask for your copy to be made available at once and acknowledge that your 14-day right to cancel ends when it is. We confirm this in the welcome email we send you. Our own three days to change your mind still apply in full.
After three days. Once the three days have passed, the purchase is final and we do not give refunds, except where the law requires one. If something has gone wrong, write to info@thedigitalpresence.com and we will do what we reasonably can to put it right. Nothing in this section takes away refund rights the law gives you where you live, including rights for digital content that is faulty or not as described.
Buying twice by mistake. One copy is all anyone needs. If you are charged twice for GhostWriter by mistake, write to info@thedigitalpresence.com and we will refund the extra purchase. If you already have a copy, your copy page gives you your plugin and your connection link again, so you never need to buy a second one.
Disputes with your bank. If you dispute a payment with your bank or card company, the copy it paid for is switched off while the dispute is open. It is switched back on if the dispute is settled in our favor. Please write to us first; we can usually sort things out faster.
Codes. We sometimes give out codes. A code gives the person who uses it a copy at no charge, or a lower price at the checkout. A code may have a limit on how many people can use it or a last day, and we may close a code that has not been used yet. A code has no cash value.
Updates and changes. Your purchase includes the updates we release. The method updates itself from our server, so you always work with the current version. GhostWriter will keep changing: we may add, alter, or remove features. GhostWriter needs our server to work. If we ever have to end the service, we will tell you by email as far ahead as we reasonably can. Whatever happens, your book stays where it is, on your computer and in your Claude account, in plain files you can open without us.
8. Services we do not control
GhostWriter depends on things we do not run: Claude and your Claude account, your own computer and its folders, and the public code library your book's pages load from. We are not responsible for those services, for changes Anthropic makes to Claude, or for the loss of files on your own computer. Please keep your own backup of your book folder.
9. No guarantees
GhostWriter is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that GhostWriter will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or right for your purpose, or that anything it helps you write will be accurate.
10. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or writing, arising from your use of GhostWriter. Our total liability to you for all claims will not be more than the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars.
Some places do not allow some of these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law says cannot be taken away.
11. If your use causes a claim
If someone brings a claim against us because of what is in your book, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it.
12. Ending
You can stop using GhostWriter at any time by removing the plugin and the connection from Claude. Write to info@thedigitalpresence.com if you would like us to close your copy and delete what we hold about you.
We may suspend or close a copy that is being misused or that breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first. Sections 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 13 continue to apply after these terms end.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. If we have a disagreement, please write to us first and give us 30 days to put it right. After that, any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon, and you and we both agree to those courts. If you are a consumer, this does not remove protections your own local law gives you.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as GhostWriter grows. We will post the new version here with a new date, and if the change matters we will write to the email address your copy is under before it takes effect. If you keep using GhostWriter after that, you accept the new terms.
15. The rest
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback, we may use them to improve GhostWriter without owing you anything for them. Your book is never feedback: it stays yours.
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about GhostWriter. If a court finds part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still stands. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a company that takes over GhostWriter.
