Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
The short version
- Your book stays with you. It lives in a folder on your own computer and in your own Claude account. It is never sent to us, and we cannot read it.
- We keep very little. Your name, your email, a record of your purchase or of the code you used, and when you agreed to our terms, so we can give you your copy and write to you about it. We never see your card number.
- No ads and no tracking. We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or follow you around the web.
- You are in charge. Write to us at info@thedigitalpresence.com to see, correct, or delete what we hold.
Who we are
GhostWriter & the Muse is operated by Leaders in Action Communications, LLC, Portland, Oregon, United States. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean that company, and "the site" means this website. For anything about your privacy, write to info@thedigitalpresence.com.
GhostWriter & the Muse is an independent product. It works inside Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. We are not part of Anthropic.
What we collect, and why
When you buy
You pay on a checkout page run by Stripe. You give Stripe your name, your email, your billing country or address, and your payment details. Stripe handles them under its own privacy policy.
Stripe then tells us that the purchase happened and passes us its record of it: your name, your email, the billing details Stripe collected (often only a country and a postal code), the amount, any code that was used, whether you ticked the box to agree to our terms, and reference numbers for the payment. We keep the date you agreed and which version of the terms it was. We never see or store your card number.
If you cancel within the three days, or keep your copy at a lower price, we keep a record of the refund, the date, and the reason you chose to tell us, if any.
When you use a code
If a code gives you a copy without a payment, we keep your first name, your email address, the code, the date, and the date you ticked the box to agree to our terms.
Your copy
From these we create your copy: a private connection link and a setup link, which both work like passwords, and your download of the plugin. When you download the plugin we note the version, the date, and the kind of browser you used.
When you open your copy page from your own link, the page asks our server for your copy's details using that link, and shows your download and connection link. The link is the key, so keep it private.
The emails we send you
We use your email to keep your copy for you and to write to you about it:
- a welcome email when you get your copy, confirming your order, the terms you agreed to, and your links;
- a link to your copy page when you ask for one on the site;
- our replies when you write to us;
- now and then, news about GhostWriter itself, such as updates. You can stop the news at any time by replying to any message or writing to info@thedigitalpresence.com, and we will never send you anyone else's offers.
When your ghostwriter checks in
At the start of a book conversation, the plugin asks our server to confirm your copy and to send your ghostwriter's current instructions. We record that your copy checked in, which of our three tools was called, the version numbers in use, the name of any reference that was asked for, and the time. That is all the request carries. It holds none of your book and none of your conversation.
To keep the service safe
When someone tries a code on the setup page, we keep a scrambled, one-way form of their internet address with the time and the result, so we can slow down abuse. We cannot turn it back into the address. When someone opens the checkout we count it, without recording who they are.
The companies that host the site and our server also keep routine technical logs, such as internet address, browser type, and the page requested, for security and to keep things running. They keep these for a limited time under their own schedules.
When you write to us
When you use the forms on the Support page or your copy page, we keep your name if you give it, your email, your message, and a scrambled, one-way form of your internet address to slow down abuse. A message is stored in our database and sent on to our own inbox so a person can answer it. When you email one of our addresses at ghostwritermuse.com, it is forwarded to that same inbox. We keep your message and our reply, so we can help you.
What we do not collect
- Your book: your manuscript, notes, stories, outline, voice samples, or cover.
- Your conversations with Claude.
- Anything else on your computer.
- Where you go on the web. The site has no analytics and no advertising.
The tools our server offers accept only a version number or the name of a reference. There is nowhere in them to put a word of your book.
Where your book lives
Your book is kept in the folder you chose on your own computer. Your book's pages are private pages in your own Claude account. What you type and say to your ghostwriter is handled by Claude, under your own agreement with Anthropic and Anthropic's privacy policy. We have no access to any of it.
Your book's pages load their design from a public code library (jsDelivr) and their typefaces from Google Fonts. Like any website, those services see the internet address of the device asking. They receive nothing about your book.
What is kept in your browser
The site sets no cookies. It keeps two small things in your browser's own storage: your privacy choice, and your place in the guided setup. Your place in the setup is kept only until you close the tab, unless you choose "Remember this device". The Cookie Policy lists each item, and you can change your choice at any time under .
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of companies to run the service, and they may handle your information only on our instructions:
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
- Supabase, which hosts our database and server in the United States.
- Resend, which sends the emails we write to you.
- Cloudflare, which runs our domain's name records and forwards email sent to our addresses at ghostwritermuse.com to our inbox.
- The provider of our own inbox, where your messages to us arrive and are answered.
- Stripe, which runs the checkout, takes the payment as the seller of record, works out any sales tax or VAT, deals with fraud and disputes, and sends your receipt. Stripe makes its own decisions about the payment information it handles, under its own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and ourselves. If the business is ever sold or merged, your information may pass to the new owner, who must keep to this policy or ask you again.
How long we keep it
- Your copy and its check-in records: while your copy is active. Ask us and we will delete them, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.
- The record of your purchase: while your copy is active, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- An email you left with us before GhostWriter went on sale: until you ask us to remove it.
- Messages you send us: as long as we need them to help you and to keep our records straight.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@thedigitalpresence.com from the email address your copy is under. We will answer within 30 days. We will never treat you differently for asking.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights, such as the right to object to certain uses, to take your information elsewhere, or to complain to your local data protection authority. Where the law asks us to name our reasons for using your information (the legal basis): we use it to make and keep the agreement with you (your copy, your emails about it, your refund), because the law requires it (tax and accounting records), for our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and in telling customers about GhostWriter itself, and with your consent where we ask for it. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area and are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels over an encrypted connection, and access to our database is tightly limited. Two things are in your hands:
- Your private connection link works like a password. Do not share it. If you think someone else has it, tell us and we will replace it.
- Your setup link works like a password too. Anyone who has it can open your download and your private connection link, so keep it private.
- If you got your copy with a code, that code and your email together bring your copy back on the setup page, so keep the two together to yourself.
No system is perfectly secure. If something ever goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you.
Where it is kept
We are based in the United States, and what we hold is stored there. If you use GhostWriter from another country, your information will be handled in the United States. Where the law of your country asks for it, the companies we use move information under recognized safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the UK's equivalent.
Children
GhostWriter is for adults. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date. If the change matters, we will also write to the email address your copy is under before it takes effect.
